Welcome
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Bergen, Norway for the 68th Scandinavian Neurosurgical Society congress (SNS). This meeting is a joint meeting for the Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic and Norwegian societies of Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology and Neuronursing. The meeting is organized by the Scandinavian Neurosurgical Society, the Norwegian Neurosurgical Society, the Norwegian Neuroradiology Society, Mohn Medical Imaging and Visualization Centre and The Norwegian Association of Neuroscience Nurses.
The meeting is set in picturesque Bergen, the capital of the Norwegian west coast. Bergen is surrounded by seven mountains and is a very popular tourist attraction. The congress is set adjunct to the Norwegian National day, May 17th. The National day in Norway is celebrated with everyone dressing up in traditional dresses (bunad), children parades, marching bands and fireworks. A unique feature in Bergen is the city's many traditional and special "buekorps" - the traditional drummer brigades. Celebrating the National day in Bergen is a truly unique experience. The meeting will be held at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel which is nestled next to Bryggen, the city’s historic wharf area – one of Norway’s most popular attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Bryggen is testament to Bergen’s important role as a port during the days of the Hanseatic League’s trade empire. The hotel sits next to a charming row of traditional, colorful wooden buildings lining the old pier, with beautiful views over the marina. We estimate approximately 400 - 500 participants to take part in the congress from the Nordic countries, as well as from the rest of the world.
The main theme of the congress is “Risk estimation and risk management”. Distinguished experts from all over the word will contribute to a varied and high quality scientific program in addition to some of the leading figures from Scandinavia.
The scientific program will be organized as both plenary sessions with exciting topics of interest for all participants, and separate breakout sessions with focus on relevant topics of special interest for neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and neuronurses.
Apart from a high quality scientific program, we host a special social program which starts with reception at the famous museum The King Haakon’s hall followed by cruise trip through breathtaking view of fjords and the official gala dinner at the famous mount Floyen.
We look forward to seeing you in Bergen 2022!
